St Stephens Hill - Local Community Co-operation

nearshotplotoverlaycopyAs a result of a recent site visit with our wheelchair access consutant, we were approached by the President of St Stephen’s Casa do Povo (House of the People or Community Hall) - José Barradas. José invited us to see the finishing stages of mordenisation and refurbishment work on community hall. The building has been totally refurbished with meeting rooms and coffee bar, internet café with IT infrastructure and classrooms for any kind of activity and they will offer more local events throughout the year. The facility is free to use via funding from Tavira Council and is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor where the internet café is located. It will be opened later this month and José invited our potential buyers to use the facility and integrate with the local community as they are keen to forge close ties with both us and future owners. He has a personal slogan of “Globalisation”! They also wish to establish a country exchange program with us personally.

They also plan to restructure the centre od Sao Estevao in front of the church which will be pedestrianised. So when we mentioned the poor wheelchair access in the village as a whole, José promised to talk with the President of Tavira Council and the President of Sao Estevao parish to lobby them to have this rectified.
